HARRINGTON, Del. – Todd Adams and Chad Tate’s Voo Doo Raider coasted to a wire-to-wire win in the $35,500 Adios Harry Final Wednesday at Harrington Raceway in 1:55.3.

Driver Brad Hanners utilized his rail post position to set fractions of 28.2, 59, and 1:27.2 while fighting off a first-over charge from Hole In the Pocket N (Steve Warrington), who finished second.

Trained by Kevin Lare, it was Voo Doo Raider’s fifth win of the year. Market Dreamer (Les Givens) was third. The Adios Harry is a late closing series for 3 and 4 year-olds, featuring two elimination rounds.

“He was real sharp last week and I thought he was the one to beat tonight,” said Hanners. “Kevin’s done a real nice job with this horse and things worked out well for us tonight.”

In the $18,500 Open Trot, Daniel and Thomas Courtemanche’s Jake’s Nordic (Tim Curtin) earned his fourth straight win in 1:57.3 for trainer Sam Beegle. The 5-year-old Keystone Nordic gelding set all the fractions and held off Goalfish (Jacqueline Ingrassia) and Solicitor Hanover (Victor Kirby), en route to his 30th victory in 61 lifetime starts.

In two $13,500 divisions of the winners-over trot, Robert Harper and Bill Vandervort’s Ringside Rocket (Leah Vandervort) blazed to a 1:57.2 triumph, while Lare-trained Rattlesnake Jake equaled the feat in an identical time in the latter split.

It was the first time in track history that three trotting races went in 1:57.4 or less on the same program.

In the 15th race, Scotchontherocks (Kevin Sizer) was claimed for the sixth consecutive start, however the barn changes don’t seem to phase him as he won his sixth race of the year. There were five claims on the pacer, who ended up with Matthew Webb.

Brad Hanners, Hal Belote and Ross Wolfenden each won two races on the program.

Racing continues Thursday with the $34,000 Miss Harrington Final and $30,000 Magician Trot Final. Post time is 5:30 p.m.
