Warning Zone wins fourth straight in Simpson

Lexington, KY — Warning Zone, fresh off a Kentucky Sires Stakes championship, won his $12,400 John Simpson Memorial division at The Red Mile on Monday night, September 17, in a lifetime best 1:51.3.

Charlie Norris drove Warning Zone, a 2-year-old Jate Lobell gelding, to his fourth straight win and fifth in seven lifetime starts. Virgil Morgan, Jr. trains the winner for Joseph Muscara.

Its That Time grabbed his Simpson division in 1:52.4 over heavily-favored MCA. Andy Miller drove the 2-year-old Real Artist colt for trainer Steve Elliott and owner Perfect World Enterprises.

Just like Sunday night, Ron Gurfein won a pair of Simpson divisions for trotters.

Over Ruled won his $12,800 division in 1:56.2. This son of Self Possessed was driven by Mike Lachance for co-owners Status Stables, Jerry Silva, Sampson Street Stables and Mathias Meinzinger.

Kajan Kooker also won his $13,100 Simpson division in 1:56.2 for Gurfein and Lachance. This Self Possessed colt is also owned by Meinzinger, Silva, and Sampson Street Stables.

Yankee Matthew was a 1:56.1 winner in his Simpson division for colt trotters. A son of Muscles Yankee, Yankee Matthew was driven by Dave Palone for trainer Mark Harder, who co-owns the colt with Scott Kurzrok and Stable 45.

The Red Mile will host racing this Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. Post time will be 6:30 p.m.
