Western Millennium scores at the Meadows

by Adam Packard, for the Meadows

Meadow Lands, PA –– Western Millennium, owned by Gail Nigro, Jacob Ramsburg, and Troy McDougal, earned his first victory of 2005 in a $12,000 Preferred Pace on Saturday night at the Meadows with Dave Palone in the bike, in 1:53.3.

The eight-year-old son of Western Hanover -– Impressive Breeze sat a three hole trip throughout much of the mile and caught a break when Mike Simons brought Execujet to the outside from the two hole to open a clear lane.

Spastic, the pacesetter, had the lead at the head of the stretch with challenges from Execujet on the outside and Western Millennium in the Lightning Lane.

The stretch drive got interesting when Matt Lambert dropped the lines of Spastic and interfered with Execujet and Sharky Spur. Simons did a great job of keeping Execujet on his feet and avoiding further accident. The incident caused impact on the second and third place finishers, but Western Millennium would have won without the incident.

Sharky Spur finished third and was placed second for Richard Stillings. Ton Of Diamonds finished fourth and was placed third for Brian Zendt.

Western Millennium, an $8,000 yearling purchase, has pushed his career earnings to $480,329 for his connections.

The Meadows continues live racing on Monday with a scheduled post time of 6:00 p.m.
