Western Silk captured the last Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Final of the season for 2-year-old filly pacers.

Mark MacDonald was able to engineer a perfect second-over trip for the daughter of Western Terror-Extemporaneous who was sitting fourth on the outside at the top of stretch with race favorite, Higher And Higher, who was making her OSS debut, on the lead but under heavy pressure.

Western Silk tipped three-wide as the field turned for home and kicked home to win going away. Longshot Ice Ice Baby rallied in between horses to just nip Higher And Higher for the place spot.

Western Silk, who came into the night leading the OSS point standings for her division, notched her seventh win of the campaign in 13 starts for Tom Hill of Great Britain who co-owns along with trainer Casie Coleman.

Western Silk will be one of the finalists for next Saturday night’s C$300,000 Super Final at Woodbine.
