Whitesville Lee shocks in Maryland Race Fund

FT. WASHINGTON , MD – Whitesville Lee [$25.20, $5.40, $9.20] scored a pocket trip in the $27,480 Maryland Standardbred Race Fund for two-year-old trotting fillies at Rosecroft Raceway on Friday, picking up her first lifetime win and a record of 2:03.4 for owner-trainer Gary White.

Driven by David Hill III, the Loge filly came from the rail and was driven aggressively up the passing lane with a final quarter of 31.3. Whitesville Lee beat English Class [$10.80, $8.20] and Gene Daisey, Jr. by three-quarters of a length.

Mellow Lane [$3.00] was third for driver Todd Schadel.

The favorite, Lindmeakiss, suffered a break after the start and finished sixth, while Amber Alert, the winner of last week’s event finished fourth, two and a half lengths off of the leader.

The 1-3-7 trifecta paid out a hefty $628.80.

The two-year-old colts and geldings on the trot contested two early, non-betting races. Both divisions held a purse of $13,202, and Kodac Flash was victorious by one and a half lengths in 2:02.2 for trainer-driver David Wade. Owned by the Sweet and Sassy Stable II, the SJ’s Photo colt earned his first lifetime win and now sports a line of 1-3-0 from seven starts.

Juice On The Loose, reined by trainer Jewett Pumphrey, finished second, while Irish Boy and Timmy Offutt were third.

The second division brought Onstar K and owner-trainer-driver Bill Long to the winner’s circle. The gelded son of Go Get Lost jogged ahead of the field to win by seven lengths in 2:02.1, marking his first lifetime win as well.

Honolulu Hunk, driven by trainer Jerry Nock, showed an impressive performance. The Program Speed colt broke stride before the quarter pole and sat more than twenty lengths off the field, but recovered in the stretch to finish second with a final quarter of 30.3. CAROUSEL FRAME, IRENEONTHEMOVE HEAD DIVISIONS OF MARYLAND RACE FUND AT ROSECROFT

Ben Stafford, Jr.’s Carousel Frame heads a field of two-year-old filly pacers in a $14,582 division of the Maryland Standardbred Race Fund at Rosecroft Raceway on Saturday.

The Dragon Again filly will face the starter as the 7-5 early choice from post position two with her owner in the sulky. Carousel Frame comes into this race off of a win in the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes at the Meadows in 1:55.1 and has been competitive against similar at Rosecroft, winning by five lengths on August 6.

Second choice, at 2-1, is Winbak Zoom. Racing for owners Lester Allen Walls and Jack Upchurch, the Badlands Hanover filly was third in the Molly Pitcher stakes at Freehold Raceway in 1:56.3. Trainer Wayne Whitson, Jr. named Corey Braden as driver.

Lislea Bella (Harry Harvey, 8-1), Classy And Bad (Victor Kirby, 4-1) and Social Impact (John Wagner, 9-2) complete the field.

The second division, worth $14,782, brings Ireneonthemove to the front. The Powerful Toy filly is set to open on the board as the 8-5 choice for owner Rodney Wyatt. Winning both of her lifetime starts, Ireneonthemove has a record of 1:57.2 and is trained by Jason Skinner. Kevin Sizer has the driving assignment.

Like My Mom, the 5-2 second choice, will start from the pole position with Corey Braden at her lines. The Real Artist filly, owned by Tom Cooke and trained by Roger Hans, has two wins from five starts and a record of 1:57.0.

Rounding out the field are Winbak Boop (John Wagner, 10-1), Badlands Brownie (Roland Mallar, 9-2), Badlands Hurricane (Wayne Truitt (9-2) and Flannel Yankee (Jonathan Roberts, 6-1).

Post time for the 15-race card is set for 7:20 p.m. at Rosecroft on Saturday.
