Win a trip to the Little Brown Jug this weekend

by John Pawlak, the U.S. Trotting Association

Columbus, OH — Head to your local harness track this weekend for a chance to win a trip for two to the 2010 Little Brown Jug.

The U.S. Trotting Association, in concert with the 21 racetracks participating in the USTA’s “Back to the Track” promotion, has announced that one lucky fan at each of the participating tracks will win an expenses-paid trip for two to see the brightest jewel in the Pacing Triple Crown on September 23 — in VIP fashion.

“The Little Brown Jug is a classic part of the American harness racing landscape, and the experience of attending the Jug and being part of the race’s atmosphere and history is second to none,” Mike Tanner, USTA Executive Vice President and CEO, said. “What better way to celebrate all that’s great about our sport.”

Each participating racetrack will receive one, round-trip prize package that will include the following:

  • Round trip air transportation for two from the nearest major airport to Columbus.
  • Accommodations (double occupancy) for two nights (Sept. 22 and Sept. 23) at the Columbus Airport Marriott.
  • Deluxe motorcoach transportation to and from the Delaware County Fairgrounds on Jug Day.
  • Two VIP passes to the sponsorship tent on Jug Day.

“Back to the Track” is a promotion that seeks to bring fans out for an afternoon or evening at the harness races as a means of recapturing the excitement they remember from earlier visits, and to offer special incentives to those who do. Many of the participating tracks have already announced a variety of promotional draws, including such things as free admission, free past performance programs, handicapping seminars and contests, behind the scenes tours and food and beverage specials.

Some promotions are limited to VIP Track Pass holders, so be sure to sign up for your free VIP Track Pass to enjoy all that your track has to offer on this special weekend.
