Toronto, ON — After celebrating a career year as a trainer last season with $1,680,995 earned, Oakville, Ontario resident Rick Zeron is hoping to surpass that mark in 2011. The 2010 O’Brien Award winner for Horsemanship is eagerly anticipating the return of his two stable stars, Lady Rainbow and Peach Martini.

Lady Rainbow banked $209,633 as a juvenile in 2010.

Lady Rainbow, a 3-year-old daughter of Muscles Yankee, earned $209,633 last season with four victories from nine freshman starts. Largely competing on the Grand Circuit, Lady Rainbow captured her Breeders Crown elimination before scoring two victories at The Red Mile in Lexington, Ky.

“She’s coming back just super,” Zeron said. “Last year we had an issue with her because she was touching her inside knee. That’s what caused her to make a break in the Breeders Crown and Peaceful Way. Now, she doesn’t even come close to her knee and she’s grown up and filled out really, really nice and I’m expecting big things from her.”

With earnings of $289,068 last season, Peach Martini capped off her 2010 season with a second-place finish in the $297,000 OSS Super Final before being nominated for an O’Brien Award in her division. The 3-year-old daughter of Striking Sahbra also captured four OSS Gold eliminations and one Gold final to complete her season with a 5-3-0 record from 11 starts.

In today’s interview with WEG’s media department, Zeron talks about the near return of his trotting queens. To view the interview on the Woodbine Entertainment website, click here.
