Marohn finished with 271 wins for his first title here at the Mighty M. During the 2012 racing season young Jimmy drove 345 winners which was his best year to date. Of that total, 68 wins were at Tioga Downs where he drove mostly on the days when Monticello was dark. Still, his 68 winners earned him the driving title at Tioga and it marked the second consecutive year that the diminutive reinsman won the most races there.

Thus far in his career the 29-year-old catch-driver has reined 1,951 winners.

Danny Gill’s title was arguably the biggest surprise on the trainer’s side during the 2012 season. His 118 winners was one better than runner-up Pete Pellegrino’s 117. Prior to this year, the 56 winners he harnessed during 2011 was the most Gill ever had in a single season.

Last year Gill also added another 12 wins at other racetracks to raise his 2012 seasonal output to 130. To date, the 56-year-old conditioner has harnessed 661 winners.
