Wilkes-Barre, PA — Detour Hanover (Andover Hall-D Train), an $825,000 purchase as a yearling, won in his racing debut over a field of 2-year-old maiden trotters on Tuesday (Sept. 11) at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.
Owned by John Cancelliere and trained by Tom Cancelliere, the colt was driven to victory by David Miller in 1:58.
The Cancellieres spent a record $825,000 to purchase Detour Hanover, a full brother to 2007 Horse of the Year Donato Hanover, at last fall’s Standardbred Horse Sale.
Detour Hanover’s sale shattered the record for a Standardbred yearling sold at public auction, topping the $650,000 for trotting colt Experience Victory in 1999.
