A consolation for French trainer/driver Romain Derieux

The Prix du Luxembourg at Vincennes on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 25) was won by Anzi des Liards with his trainer, Romain Derieux, in the bike.

The 10-year-old gelding won the 1-5/16th mile event in 1:54 (mile rate) with a purse for the winner of $50,000.

For Romain Derieux the victory must be a consolation after his stable star Dijon was ruled out of the Prix d’Amerique because the horse had not earned enough money. For the Prix d’Amerique, a trotter can either qualify in specific races or get his/her spot in the race by lifetime winnings. Dijon has earnings of $1.1 million, but that was not enough to get him into the big race.
