Banca is back to winning ways in GSY Series at the Big M

East Rutherford, NJ — As ten pacers left the gate on a chilly Saturday (Nov. 30) evening at The Meadowlands in the GSY Series, the need for speed was in order, like a mad scramble you would see at a store on Black Friday.

After the dust settled to a :27.2 first quarter, Monica Banca found herself on the lead behind Americanfirewater, from her outside post nine, and never looked back.

She was able to stave off all challengers en route to a half-length victory. Last week’s winner, Polak A (Tony Beltrami) was a hard charging and hard luck second, coming from last to just miss and Scirocco Mistysaid, with Mark Silva in the bike, finished third. The mile went in a fast 1:52.3.

The winner is a 5-year-old gelding by American Ideal, owned by Rock And Roll Stable Inc. and trained by Rick Dane Jr.

Next week, the final of the GSY Winter Series takes place with a $17,000 purse.
