Banca Romps in GSY Series race at Monticello

Monticello, NY  – A compact field of five went to post in the first race on the card on Monday (Nov. 11) afternoon as the GSY was on tour again at the half mile oval in upstate New York.

Joe Lee, driving Mcard Attack left from the two hole and took command into the first turn and carved out sensible fractions for the first half-mile stanza. He maintained that lead until the three-quarters pole and that is when the overwhelming favorite, Feel the Need A, driven by Monica Banca, took the lead and opened up enroute to a five-length victory.  She hit the wire in 1:57.1.

Dave Yarock, driving his Sammy B Happy gelding finished second and after a disqualification, Chris Doherty, aboard Vaganova, got placed third. The GSY’s fourth leg will take place at the Big M on Friday (Nov. 15) night and Monticello on Monday (Nov. 18) as the final is just a few weeks away. The 10-year-old gelding is out of Speed King , is owned by Evan Katz and trained by Rick Dane Jr.

The fourth leg of the GSY Series will take place this Friday night at the Meadowlands.  First post is slated for 7:15 p.m.
