Beckwith, Minore win NAADA Trot divisions at Yonkers

Yonkers, NY — Despite inclement weather, two $8,000 North American Amateur Drivers Association trotting events were presented on Thursday night (Oct. 29) prior to the wagering card at Yonkers Raceway.

In the first split, 17-year-old Brett Beckwith scored behind DW’s Revenge in 2:01, while Paul Minore and If I Must notched a 2:00.3 victory after also having won an American Harness Drivers Club event at Freehold five days ago.

In his division, Beckwith sat the pocket until the three-quarters before rallying DW’s Revenge to a going-away 4-1/2 length triumph over Jacks To Open (Nicole DiCostanzo), who controlled the fractions. Tough Get Going garnered third for Joe Faraldo.

Melissa Beckwith owns and trains the winner, a 6-year-old altered son of Archangel.

In the other split, Paul Minore charged If I Must to the lead as the gate folded, but then grabbed leather to allow Tony Ciuffetelli to take command with Someway Sam Hall. Minore then sat chilly and followed Ciuffetelli’s lead all the way to the top of the stretch and then rallied his trotter to score by a head. Third place went to Ladys Big Stormont and driver Alan Schwartz.

Taylor Gower trains If I Must, a 5-year-old Muscles Yankee gelding, for Minore.
