Beltrami wins again in GSY Amateur Series

East Rutherford, NJ — The GSY Series amateur pacers were back at The Meadowlands Friday night (Nov. 27) for the final leg before the final next week and although several horses left for the lead, the customary speed duel did not ensue.

That’s because Tony Beltrami, driving So So De Vie, took control after the quarter pole in :27.4 and never looked back.

After the race he said “When I didn’t see a lot of horses leaving hard for the lead, I took a shot and once he settled on the front, I knew I had a good shot at winning. He had something left as we entered the stretch and I was happy to get the victory going into the final next week.”

Mcnulty Z Tam, with newcomer Peter Lancaster, sat third and was able to make a nice close for second and pocket sitter and post time favorite, Ruthless Dude (Andrew Adamczyk), faded to third. The mile went in 1:54.1.

This was another victory on a different horse by this driver/trainer duo. The 3-year-old is out of the mare Place Your Best and by American Ideal, is trained by Williams Hernandez and is owned by Jose Cervantes.

The GSY Series final will be set for next Friday night at the Big M, going for a purse of $13,000. The first post is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
