Bettor Memories, Dunn shine at Dover

Dover, DE — Gus Dovi’s Bettor Memories won the $25,000 Open Pace at Dover Downs on Thursday night (Nov. 21), giving driver Dexter Dunn one of seven wins on the program.

Dexter Dunn waited for the early speed to settle before taking the lead with the 6-year-old Bettor’s Delight gelding. Bettor Memories cut fractions of :26, :53.4 and 1:21.3 on his way to a lifetime mark of 1:49.3. Little Ben and Tim Tetrick finished second; Owosso Flash and driver Tony Morgan were third.

In the $27,500 Blue Hen Open Handicap, Q’s Cruise and Tim Tetrick won in 1:50.2 for owner Jo Ann Looney-King and trainer Jim King Jr. They were able to survive the fast-closing charge of Slick Tony (Dunn). Late Mail N (Corey Callahan) finished third.

Trainer Jim King Jr. captured four wins on the night, while Tetrick won five races.

Next Wednesday (Nov. 27) is the $335,000 Hap Hansen Progress Pace. Also on the card are two $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund finals for 2-year-old pacers. Post time is 4:30 p.m.

There will be no racing next Thursday (Nov. 28) in observance of Thanksgiving.
