Bulldog Hanover scores in Thanksgiving Classic at Hoosier

Anderson, IN — Bulldog Hanover was a 1:51.4 winner in the $60,000 Thanksgiving Classic for 3-year-old male pacers on Thursday (Nov. 25) at Harrah’s Hoosier Park.

With John DeLong in the sulky, Bulldog Hanover brushed to the lead at the :54.1 half-mile marker on the sloppy track and then was never caught through subsequent fractions of 1:23.4 and 1:51.4. He defeated Goldie’s Legacy by 2-1/4 lengths with Big Gulp third.

Off at 1-5 in the wagering, the son of Shadow Play-BJ’s Squall paid $2.40 to win.

Bulldog Hanover has won 10 of 15 races this year and earned $580,852. His victory on Thursday ran his winning streak to four for co-owner/trainer Jack Darling and his ownership partner, Brad Grant.

All four of Bulldog Hanover’s recent victories have come at Hoosier Park. Since arriving from Canada, the colt has also won a division of the Circle City Stakes, the Monument Circle and Star Destroyer.

The Thanksgiving Classic was his final start of the season. He will get a two-month layoff and then begin preparing for his 4-year-old campaign.

Swingforthefences (Peter Wrenn), a multiple winner on the Grand Circuit, won the $54,000 Thanksgiving Classic for 3-year-old male trotters in 1:55, while Dewtiful’s Grace (Joey Putnam) upset 1-9 favorite Pub Crawl in the $47,000 Thanksgiving Classic for 3-year-old female trotters in 1:55.
