Calipari looks to be ‘Bracket Buster’ at Yonkers Raceway
March 17, 2016,by John Cirillo
Yonkers, NY — There will be a different kind of “March Madness” hoping for a “Bracket Buster” on Sunday afternoon (March 20) at Yonkers Raceway when Calipari — the horse — a 9-1 shot — tries for the upset in the first division of the Yonkers vs. France Drivers’ Cup.
The 8-year-old is owned by Rocco Manniello of Astoria, N.Y., but will compete for the French flag-carrier, driver Pierre Levesque, and drew post position six.
Hasty Profit, with Yonkers’ leading driver and team captain Jason Bartlett handling the reins, has been tabbed the 5-2 morning line favorite from post position two in that first leg.
Calipari, a gelding sired by Ken Warkentin, is coached…errr trained…by Michael Forte.
The full details of the inaugural competition are available at this link.

Apparently, all that was missing from Yonkers Raceway’s “French-centric” trots were the French. That small detail gets rectified Sunday afternoon (March 20), with the inaugural Drivers’ Cup.
