Captain Corey to stand at Hanover Shoe Farms

Hanover, PA — Hanover Shoe Farms is pleased to announce the addition of 2021 Hambletonian winner Captain Corey to its 2022 stallion roster.

A son of Googoo Gaagaa out of the Angus Hall mare Luv U All, Captain Corey was a $150,000 yearling purchase who blazed on the scene in June of his 2-year-old year by trotting a :26.4 last quarter in his very first qualifier before then reeling off six straight wins, including the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes Final at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono, which he won in 1:53.3.

As a 3-year-old, in addition to his victory in the Hambletonian, Captain Corey captured a Pennsylvania Sire Stakes leg, the Earl Beal Memorial and the PASS consolation. From 14 total lifetime starts, Captain Corey won 10 times and was second twice, amassing $1,090,333 in earnings. He took his lifetime mark of 1:51 at The Meadowlands in the Hambletonian and equaled that mark 14 days later in the Earl Beal Memorial at Pocono.

Captain Corey is a striking individual with a gorgeous, efficient gait,” said Dr. Bridgette Jablonsky. “He simply overpowered his competition from his first lifetime start right until his untimely last career start in September. I am confident he will pass on his good looks, precociousness and raw ability to his foals. He is, of course, an outcross to the vast majority of mares in both North America and Europe, and we are quite intrigued by him carrying one-quarter pacing blood as there have been several standout horses in Europe as of late that have both pacing and trotting genetics. Hanover will be buying a significant percentage of Captain Corey and be breeding a large book of high-quality mares to him.”

The initial service fee for Captain Corey has been set at $8,500. Captain Corey will be syndicated. For the terms of the syndication, please call or text Dr. Jablonsky at 717.578.7395, email her at drjablonsky@hanoverpa.com, or visit her at the Hanover consignment at the upcoming Standardbred Horse Sale in Harrisburg, Pa.
