Dunn sweeps Tuesday Weiss preliminaries

Wilkes-Barre, PA — Two-time Driver of the Year Dexter Dunn swept all three $17,500 first-round divisions of the Bobby Weiss Series for 3-year-old trotting fillies on the Tuesday (April 6) card at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono.

Trip Sevens completed a sweep of her Bobby Weiss Series preliminaries with a new mark of 1:55.3 on Tuesday at Pocono. Curtis Salonick photo.

Dunn combined with trainer Nifty Norman and the partnership of Melvin Hartman, David McDuffee and Diamond Creek Racing for two wins. The first came with the Muscle Hill filly Eazy Pass, who raced second-over, then moved to the inside off the far turn and rallied up the Pocono Pike to win in 1:56.

The team also enjoyed success with the Cantab Hall filly Rebel Girl, who swept to the lead entering the far turn and lowered her mark to 1:56.2 in her initial outing of 2021.

The fastest of Dunn’s three Weiss wins was with the Chapter Seven filly Trip Sevens, who moved to the lead early and was under little duress afterwards in a new lifetime mark of 1:55.3. Trainer Blake MacIntosh co-owns the winner with Steve Heimbecker and Mortgage Boys Stable.

Pocono will be back in action on Saturday afternoon (April 10), featuring the second preliminary of the Bobby Weiss Series for sophomore pacing colts and geldings. First post is 12:30 p.m.; program pages will be available at the PHHA website.
