Heavily favored Cinder Rock scores in DSBF final

Harrington, DE — Legacy Racing of Delaware’s Cinder Rock ($2.20, Allan Davis) won the $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund final for 3-year-old pacing fillies Tuesday (July 7) at Harrington Raceway in 1:54.4.

The Rockabillie-Cinderella filly held off a game She’s Got The Lynx, who sat second much of the mile, to win by a head. Sweet Lil was third.

Cinder Rock made a quarter pole move to the front and never looked back in her eighth career win in 10 starts. Trained by Wayne Givens, Cinder Rock was the 2-year-old DSBF champ and has banked more than $200,000 in her career.

The 3-year-old pacing filly final also honored the memory of driver/trainer Ben Stafford Jr., who passed away in 2016. He was a regular on the Delaware racing circuit who won nearly 700 races as a driver and campaigned several top local horses in the DSBF program like Badlands Jenna and Badlands And Art.

Cinder Rock’s win gave Davis three driving wins on the card, joining Montrell Teague with a triple.

George Teague Jr.’s My Last Bet ($12.60, Montrell Teague) won the $12,000 Mares Open in a lifetime best 1:52.3. The Delmarvalous 4-year-old mare set all the fractions in her narrow win over Dibaba N and Moments Of Joy for trainer Clyde Francis.

Teague also guided Lena ($19.60) to victory in the $15,000 DSBF consolation for 3-year-old pacing fillies. Owned by William Moffett, Lena scored a 1:59 win over I’m Two Soxy and Emma. Trained by her owner, it was Lena’s first career win.
