Jason Bartlett officially worth $200 — sort of

Yonkers, NY — It’s not possible to measure the worth of a human being — until now. Jason Bartlett, Yonkers Raceway’s perennial leading driver, has been appraised at a cool $200.
Well, sort of.
As part of harness racing’s Trotting 4 Charity initiative, Bartlett’s special set of colors — which he wore during a few racing programs — brought $200 at an auction which closed Wednesday night (May 23). The colors were won by Joe Betro of Delancey’s Bar and Restaurant in Goshen, N.Y.
Bartlett’s charity of choice is the Eva Fini Fund. Eva is a young neighbor of the Bartletts who is courageously battling Rett syndrome.
Rett syndrome, first identified by Austrian physician Dr. Andreas Rett in 1966, is, according to an informational page, “a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects girls almost exclusively. It is characterized by normal early growth and development followed by a slowing of development, loss of purposeful use of the hands, distinctive hand movements, slowed brain and head growth, problems with walking, seizures, and intellectual disability.”
“Joe is a horse owner with Ed Hart as his trainer and we both know the Fini family very well,” Bartlett said. “He’s committed to the charity and I’m guessing he’s going to hang the colors up in the restaurant.
“I’m just happy to help out.”

The New Jersey-based trainer is thrilled with the promotion organized by TrotCast’s Ryan Macedonio, which will be held May 18-20 at racetracks throughout North America. Participating drivers and trainers will wear a custom-made replica jersey of their own colors, with their selected charity logo displayed on the jersey. Andrew will be donating to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, for a very good reason.
