Joe Pennacchio wins NAADA trot at Monticello

Monticello, NY — When Joe Pennacchio moved Prescott first-up at the half, not only did he block others but his recent purchase rallied to challenge Makin Trouble K (Joe Lee) and then sped past him in the deep stretch to score a 1:59.3 victory in the NAADA trotting series at Monticello Raceway on Wednesday (Sept. 15).

“We had the pole but Joe Lee hustled his trotter to the front and they led us by the first stanza in :29 seconds,” Pennacchio said.

With the field in single file as they headed for the halfway point, Pennacchio was the first to move.

“My horse felt strong, so I moved him out to challenge for the lead as the field headed to the half and we raced side by side with Makin Trouble N up the backside and around the last turn, and when I asked him for more the little guy (Prescott) gave it to me and we went on to an easy two-length victory,” Pennacchio related.

Pennacchio said he recently purchased Prescott because his other trotters had won their way above the series regulations and became ineligible.

“So three weeks ago I bought Prescott to have a horse for this series and I love him; he’s such a pleasure to drive.”

Prescott is owned by Joe P Racing LLC and trained by Cory Stratton. Sent off as the favorite in the race, he paid $4.40 for win.
