Larry Stalbaum won the 5,000th race of his career with Multiple Choice.

He guided a horse that he owns, Multiple Choice, a 12-year-old Keystone Raider gelding, to a three length win in the first race.

Stalbaum was surrounded by a throng of family, well-wishers and horsemen in the winner’s circle after the race.

He has been a long time regular at Monticello Raceway, and over the last few years he has also branched out to The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono and Yonkers Raceway.

An excited Stalbaum said in the winner’s circle, “I am very glad that this win came at Monticello. I have a lot of fond memories here.”

Stalbaum added to his tally by also winning the fifth race with Givemybest Hanover for owner Woody Hoblitzell.
