Newyorknewyork Deo tops fourth session of Lexington Selected Sale

Lexington, KY — Newyorknewyork Deo, a trotting colt from the family of 2007 Horse of the Year Donato Hanover, was the top-selling yearling during Friday’s (Oct. 5) fourth session of the Lexington Selected Sale, purchased for $110,000 by the Andy Miller Stable as agent. The sale has already grossed a record $37 million, surpassing the previous benchmark of $36.4 million set last year, with the final session remaining Saturday night.
A total of 586 horses have sold this year for an average of $63,148. The average through four sessions is nearly identical to 2017, when 535 horses sold for $63,680.
This year’s fourth session saw 159 horses go for $3.69 million and an average of $23,258. The average for last year’s fourth night, when 124 horses sold, was $29,629. The average in 2016, for 113 horses, was $25,522.
The overall 2016 sale set a then-record average price of $56,304, which was eclipsed in 2017 by an average of $58,537.
Newyorknewyork Deo is by Chapter Seven out of Doris Deo, who is a full sister to Donato Hanover. Newyorknewyork Deo was bred by Deo Volente Farms and T L P Stable and consigned by Preferred Equine, Inc.
Lady Titan, a filly trotter by E L Titan out of Ally Oop, was the second-highest seller Friday, purchased for $85,000 by Ben Mudry as agent. She is a half-sister to stakes-winner Seven And Seven and six-figure-earner Blonde Magic. The filly was bred by Lynn Baker and consigned by Preferred Equine, Inc.
Rounding out the top three was DD’s Redemption, a trotting colt by Andover Hall out of Deedee’s Destiny. She sold for $75,000 to Bjorn “Bernie” Noren as agent. She is a three-quarter sister to DD’s Hitman, a stakes-winner in the U.S. and Europe, and her second dam, Odessa Drummond, was an O’Brien Award-winner. DD’s Redemption was bred by Red Well Stables and consigned by Spring Haven Farm.
Among sires with multiple yearlings sold during the four sessions, trotter Muscle Hill tops the sire standings for highest average price with 48 yearlings selling for an average of $121,000. Pacer Somebeachsomewhere is next with 26 yearlings selling for an average of $106,269, followed by trotter Chapter Seven with 26 for $89,346 and trotter Father Patrick with 47 for $88,574.
Muscle Hill is the top-grossing sire, totaling $5.80 million, followed by pacer Captaintreacherous with 58 yearlings totaling $5.04 million ($86,931 average).
The yearling sale concludes Saturday at the Fasig-Tipton Sales Pavilion and the inaugural Lexington Mixed Sale is Sunday. Both begin at 7 p.m. (EDT).

The Lexington Selected Yearling Sale got off to a strong start Tuesday night (Oct. 2) at the Fasig-Tipton Sales Pavilion, with five yearlings selling for at least $300,000 to spark a 10.6 percent increase in average price compared to last year’s record-setting event. An additional 12 horses sold for at least $200,000 and a total of 64 of the 102 horses sold reached six figures. The sales topper Tuesday was Treasure Trove, a full brother to two-time Pacer of the Year Captaintreacherous. The colt sold for $360,000 to John Cancelliere.

For the second consecutive year, session No. 2 of the Lexington Selected Sale produced a new No. 1. And this year it did it twice. Chestnut Hill, a trotting colt by Muscle Hill out of Dan Patch Award-winner Poof She’s Gone, sold for $410,000 on Wednesday night (Oct. 3) at the Fasig-Tipton Sales Pavilion to Richard “Nifty” Norman as agent. The price established Chestnut Hill as the event’s top seller, surpassing the $400,000 for trotting filly Bellareina Dolce earlier in the second session.

Muzzle The Yakker, a trotting filly from the family of Dan Patch Award-winner Casual Breeze, was the top-selling yearling during the third session of the Lexington Selected Sale, going for $200,000 to Sweden’s Reijo Liljendahl. She was among nine horses to sell for six figures Thursday (Oct. 4) at the Fasig-Tipton Sales Pavilion, extending the sale’s record this year for purchases of at least $100,000 to 119.

Trotting colt Coventry Hall, a full brother to recent 2-year-old stakes-winner Chin Chin Hall and a three-quarter brother to Dan Patch Award-winner Cantab Hall, was the top-selling yearling Saturday (Oct. 6) at the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale, purchased for $210,000 by Denmark’s Keld Gregersen.
