No Where To Hide wins Tioga Downs feature

Nichols, NY – After a dominant win at Monticello Raceway last week, the Joe Skowyra-trained No Where To Hide made her return to Tioga Downs a winning one in the Filly and Mare Open II on Saturday night (Aug. 28).

After collecting minor awards in her last two Tioga Downs appearances, No Where To Hide, the daughter of Bettor’s Delight-Albany Hanover, shipped to Monticello on Aug. 23, getting a confidence booster, winning in gate-to-wire fashion at odds of 1-9. On Saturday, she was installed as the 3-1 second choice on the morning line at Tioga Downs, and ultimately left the gate as the 4-5 win-pool favorite.

Hall-of-Fame driver Wally Hennessey wasted no time sending the favorite to the front, quickly opening up two lengths on longshot Goldstar Rockette as the field rounded the paddock-turn for the first time. No Where To Hide paced the opening quarter in :26., and caught a :29 second breather hitting the half-mile marker in :55.4.

The 4-year-old mare never faced much pressure as she got some separation at the three-quarter mile point, clipping the beam in 1:23.2. As they turned for home, second-choice Shecouldbegood N vacated the pylons and went on the attack to no avail. No Where to Hide pulled clear to win with Shecouldbegood N settling for second. Goldstar Rockette checked in third.

No Where To Hide stopped the clock in 1:51.1, shaving more than a second off her lifetime-best mark. She paid $3.90 to win. Her driver, Wally Hennessey, ended the night with four driving wins. Joe Skowyra added a second training win on the night, scoring with Astaire in race 11.

THROUGH THE SHADES: Tioga Downs hosts the Empires Breeders Classic on Sunday (Aug. 29) for 3-year-old pacing colts and fillies. There will be two divisions for the colts and one for the fillies. Brett Pelling’s Test of Faith enters the filly division off a seven-length New York Sire Stakes victory at Vernon Downs and has been installed at the 2-1 morning line favorite. The Empires Breeders Classic races are part of a 12-race program that begins at 1 p.m.
