Columbus, OH — On Saturday, January 9, 2016 Ohio Horsemen statewide will show support for the victims of the Classy Lane fire in Ontario, Canada where 43 horses tragically lost their lives. Among those horses, 2013 Cleveland Classic winner, Apprentice Hanover was one of those being mourned from last Monday evening’s horrific event.

On the Saturday night pari-mutuel race cards at Miami Valley Gaming Raceway and Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park, drivers, trainers, owners and grooms will wear red and white ribbons. Graciously, Ohio trainer Billy Farmer’s caretaker, Mackenzie Parks from Bowling Green, Ohio will be making the ribbons and disbursing them for use at both racetracks. Others are urged to help make ribbons for both horsemen and horses to wear going to post that night.

In conjunction with this show of support each track announcer, Ayers Ratliff and Barry Vicroy, will inform the public throughout the night of the situation and disseminate the information enabling Ohio horsemen and fans to donate to those left without any means for financial support, to help defray the costs of the extreme loss of life, and livelihood, through the GoFundMe site set-up by the Central Ontario Standardbred Association, and found here.
