Plainridge to host series for 2-year-olds

Plainville, MA — Again this year Plainridge Park will be offering series for 2-year-old pacers and trotters.

The Nauset Light is a four race program for 2-year-old pacers which gets underway on Monday (Aug. 12). Three legs (Aug. 12, Aug. 26, and Sept. 9) will be contested for $10,000 each. The top earners will square off in the $20,000 final on Monday (Sept. 23).

The Wood End Light is a similarly structured program for 2-year-old trotters and kicks off on Monday (Aug. 19) with a $10,000 leg. The remaining preliminary legs will take place on Sept. 2 and Sept. 16. The $20,000 Wood End Light final will also take place on Monday (Sept. 23).

There are no nominating or starting fees for either the Nauset Light or Wood End Light events. Declaration into any of the preliminary legs constitutes entry into the respective series. The final is limited to the nine highest money earners in the preliminary legs, and a horse must start in at least one of those legs to be eligible to race in the final.
