Powered By Mach scores third straight win at Plainridge

Plainville, MA — After taking a lifetime mark of 1:51.2 on Nov. 7 and bouncing right back to the winner’s circle the following week, Powered By Mach scored the hat trick on Monday (Nov. 22) after winning $22,500 fillies and mares Winners-Over pacing feature at Plainridge Park.

Handicapped with post eight, Powered By Mach (Jay Randall) left sharply and took control of the race by the eighth pole and then stepped off fractions of :27.2 and :56.2 to the half. With Pammy Jo (Bruce Ranger) and stablemate That’s Incredible (Drew Monti) following intently, Powered By Mach continued to lead by an open two lengths and hit three-quarters in 1:24.3. At the top of the final turn, That’s Incredible pulled from third and made a strong brush towards the leader. Now within striking distance, That’s Incredible was pacing strong, but Powered By Mach was also on her game. After matching strides the two hit the wire a half length apart with Powered By Mach on top in 1:53.2.

It was the seventh win of the year for Powered By Mach ($4.60) who has now earned $86,373 this year for owner Fox Racing. Jimmy Nickerson trains the winner.

It was the second win of the day for Nickerson and the second of three consecutive wins by Randall, who closed out the card with a natural hat trick to lead all drivers on Monday.
