Records set at Ottawa County Fair

Holland, MI — Tuesday, July 24, was a record setting day at the Ottawa County Fair in Holland, Michigan.

Eight divisions of the Wolverine Futurity, with purses of over $200,000, were up for grabs. When the dust settled, driver Darrell Wright had captured three of the eight Wolverine trophies, driving the winners of eight races including Lola’s Keeper (2:07 in the 2-year-old filly trot), Benns Shotgun (2:00.2 in the 2-year-old colt pace), Coco Donut (2:01.4 in the 3-year-old colt trot) and Shark Dressed Man (1:55.1 in the 3-year-old colt pace).

The win by Shark Dressed Man (Shark St Partners–Solar Attraction) established a new record for the fastest mile (1:55.1) ever by a 3-year-old pacer a county fair track in Michigan. Congratulations to owners ECS Racing LLC, David and Michelle Tackmann, and trainer Moe LaFountaine.

Another record was broken in the trot for amateur drivers when Jared Seekman, driving Wallstreet Victory, cruised home to a two length win. Doesn’t sound like a record breaking performance? According to USTA statistics, Jared is the youngest driver to ever have won a purse race at 13 years, 11 months, and several days. Congratulations to all!
