Silva wins GSY Series final at The Meadowlands

East Rutherford, NJ — The final for the GSY Series took place Friday (April 27) night over the “good” Big M surface where 10 pacers vied for the $17,500 purse.

As the gate opened a host of horses left the gate hard vying for position.  After being parked to the quarter, Bob Davis eventually found the lead aboard post time favorite, Rather Swell, but the fast fractions over the off surface took its toll late in the trip.

When Davis took over, that left several other horses parked out.  Quality Bud rode a third over trip on the outside for the entire mile making his move at the top of the stretch, carrying his momentum to a length victory.  He was driven by Mark Silva who went over the muddy surface in a fast 1:52.  Getting up for second was So Take That, with John Calabrese holding the lines and Tony Beltrami, who sat the pocket for most of the race, finished third aboard Kiwi Ideal N.  This 6-year-old gelding out of Quality Western is owned by My Buddy Stables and trained by Carl Tirella.

The GSY returns next week for a regular weekly event that will go for $11,000.  The first race post is slated for 7:15 p.m.
