Southwind Amazon looks to return to his winning ways at Northfield Park

Northfield, OH — Southwind Amazon, North America’s winningest horse in 2018, suffered a rare loss last week, but is the 2-1 morning line favorite to return to his winning ways on Monday (Feb. 18) in Northfield Park’s 12th race.

The 22-time winner last year started 2019 a perfect three-for-three before finishing as the runner-up in Northfield’s $16,000 Open Pace last Monday. The 9-year-old gelded son of Camluck is owned by Ameer Najor of West Bloomfield, Mich. Trainer Paul Holzman has again listed customary driver Ronnie Wrenn Jr. Southwind Amazon is an absolute win-machine, who has posted 72 career victories with earnings of $789,547.

Northfield’s ninth race on Monday features a $4,362 carryover in the 20-cent Northfield Single Six. There are also a pair of $10,000 guaranteed Pick-4s, beginning in races seven and 11, as well as a $10,000 guaranteed 20-cent Super High Five pool in race 13. All of the aforementioned guaranteed wagers are offered at a low 14 percent takeout. First race post time on the 15-race card is 6 p.m. (EST).
