Tamar wins Meadows’ feature in lightning lane

Washinton, PA – Tamar belatedly found the wide-open Lightning Lane, barreled through and captured Wednesday’s (Feb. 19) feature at The Meadows, an $11,500 Filly & Mare Conditioned Trot.

Tamar and Jim Pantaleano were the winners in Wednesday’s feature at The Meadows. Chris Gooden Photo.

When Jim Pantaleano and Tamar found themselves blocked behind dueling leaders out of the final turn, they initially abandoned the cones to look for a seam. But when the Lightning Lane beckoned, the duo gladly accepted the offer and scored in 1:56.2, 1/2 length better than Bessie. Long shot Cincinnati Miss completed the ticket.

Carl Cocciolone trained Tamar, a 5-year-old daughter of Cash Hall-High Gear Sahbra who boosted her career bankroll to $115,309, is co-owned by the trainer with Mark Sosovicka.

Mike Wilder and trainer Ron Burke each enjoyed a triple on the 13-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows resumes Friday (Feb. 21) when the program features a $6,020.53 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 1:05 p.m.
