Tierney and Max win Sportscaster Derbies at Meadowlands

East Rutherford, NY — Ten N.Y. sportscasters competed in two non-wagering harness races to benefit their selected charitable organization on Saturday (May 11) at Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment.

Brandon Tierney, co-host of CBS Sports Radio’s “Tiki & Tierney” and a CBS Sports Network analyst, took the win in the first charity derby raced of the night. Tierney and driving partner Corey Callahan sprinted to the lead and never looked back, earning $6,000 for his charity of choice, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

“This was incredible, said Tierney. “My horse Pretty Boy Swag and I came to win tonight. This was a once in a lifetime experience, what a great night.”

The second charity derby was won by Fox News’ Jared Max and his driving partner Yannick Gingras.

“This was the greatest ride of my life,” said Max after his win. “Yannick totally got us home. I’m so thrilled to have gotten to do this. I’m also thrilled that I’m able to help out Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition. They help spay and neuter our furry friends so they can find new homes.”

Fellow competitors Madelyn Burke of Giants.com (Natural Resources Defense Council), Marc Malusis of CBS Sportsnetwork (Rosogin Institue), Gary Myers of WFAN (Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center), Adam Zuker of CBS Sports (The Summit Conservancy), Anita Marks of ESPN (Sunrise Association), Justin Walters from Fios1 News (Boys and Girls Club of Mount Vernon), MSG Network’s Rebecca Haarlow (Garden of Dreams) and Don LaGreca of ESPN-NY 98.7 FM’s “The Michael Kay Show” (American Heart Association) each earned $1,000 for their charities.

NY Jets wide receiver Quincy Enunwa was on hand to present the checks to all competitors along with Miss N.J. USA 2019 Manya Saaraswat.

In addition to the participating sportscasters, Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment would like to thank the following trainers for assisting with the horses and sulkies for the event: trainers Mark Ford, Patti & Rob Harmon, Tony Alagna and Scott DiDomenico and Allerage Farm for providing the hospitality.
