Zuccarello sweeps NAADA splits at Yonkers

Yonkers, NY — The more he drives, the better he gets.

Matt Zuccarello swept both divisions of the North American Amateur Drivers Association trots on Thursday night (Nov. 11) at Yonkers Raceway, winning the first division with All Night Credit in 2:01.3 and then coming right back to win the second split with Stealing in 2:01.4.

“I put both horses on the lead in their respective divisions, and they each raced well,” Zuccarello said. “I was a little leery to send Stealing to the lead from the seven-hole since I have always raced him from off the pace, but we made the front in a soft :30.4. And once on top, he was strong the whole mile.

“Ironically, All Night Credit made the front from the five-hole, and once on the lead, we got away with easy fractions, and he was strong finishing,” Zuccarello added.

In that race, Joe Lee grabbed the early lead with Tidquist only to yield to Zuccarello and All Night Credit, who showed the way by the first stanza in :30.4. On top by two lengths past the halfway point, Zuccarello put the pedal to the metal, and his trotter never had an anxious moment all the way to the wire. Tidquist chased the winner home to garner second money while Crazycat (Bob Krivelin) finished third after making a break at the start.

All Night Credit is trained by Dennis Laterza for Winners Circle Racing and John Campagnuolo.

As mentioned, Zuccarello sent Stealing to the lead in the second division, and they raced unchallenged to the half, at which point Andy Adamczyk moved Chip Chip Conway out to challenge. Although they got alongside the leader, that was as close as they were to get, having to settle for second money. Pistols Aspiration finished third for Bob Davis.

Stealing is owned by Winners Circle Racing, John Campagnuolo and Latz A Luck Stable, and is also trained by Laterza.
