$10,000 Midweek Madness Tourney begins in California

Sacramento, CA — Beginning this week at Cal-Expo, the trotters and pacers will be in action three nights a week, with a Thursday, Friday and Saturday night schedule in place.

The Thursday, Jan. 28, program will also be the first leg of the Cal-Expo Harness Racing $10,000 Midweek Madness Handicapping Tournament, coming to a facility near you.

The second leg of the contest will be decided on Thursday, February 4, with the final set for Thursday, February 11. The contest is open to all harness fans age 18 or older and there is no entry fee.

Both the first and second rounds will find $100 wagering vouchers going to the 25 contestants with the highest scores, and they will also earn an entry into the February 11 finale. The final round offers $5,000 in prize money, with $2,500 going to the winner. Second place will be worth $750, with $500 going to third, $250 to fourth and $100 to the fifth through 14th finishers.

Rules and entry forms for the qualifying rounds will be available at all participating facilities. Participating sites are Golden Gate Fields, Stockton, Cal-Expo, Victorville, Santa Rosa, Lake Perris, Fairplex, Big Fresno Fair, Club One Fresno, Monterey, National Orange Show, Surfside Del Mar, Hollywood Park, Viejas Casino, Pleasanton, San Mateo Country Fair, Barona Casino, Lancaster, Ventura, Los Alamitos, Commerce Casino, Santa Anita, Vallejo and Bakersfield.
