14-year-olds finish 1-2-3 at Monticello Raceway

Monticello, NY — To find any 14-year-old horse race these days is rare, but on Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 22) in the fourth race at Monticello Raceway, there were three 14-year-olds in the same race. At the finish line the 14-year-olds Elias Joy finished first, My Cool Breeze was second and third was Crypto Man.

The winner Elias Joy notched his 12th win of the season for trainer Robert Lounsbury as he trotted to a 4-1/2 length victory in 2:00.4 and returned $2.60 to win with Hunter Oaks in the bike. The son of Floritas Hero is not showing any signs of slowing down this year, with 35 starts under his belt and $28,045 in seasonal earnings. Elias Joy is in fourth place for the most wins at Monticello Raceway this year.

The three trotting warriors have combined lifetime stats of 1,011 starts, 126 wins and $849,866 in earnings.

Crypto Man was driven by Bruce Aldrich Jr. and is trained and owned by David Dziengiel. He is a son of Malabar Man and out of the top producer Nervey’s Taurus. My Cool Breeze is trained by Dawn DeVaux and is owned by her daughter Nicole and was driven by Mike Merton.

In the next race Mike Merton went down on the track when Volare TZ made a nasty break going into the first turn and was out of control. Merton sustained a broken collarbone.
