2009 National Standardbred Show will be held Aug. 30

from the Standardbred Pleasure Horse Organization of New Jersey

The 2009 National Standardbred Show will be held Sunday, Aug. 30, at the Horsepark of NJ.

The entire showbook can be viewed online at http://standardbredpleasurehorse.org/PDF/Showbook_2009.pdf.

Pre-entries will be accepted until Aug 20 and the entry form is also available online at http://standardbredpleasurehorse.org/PDF/NSHS.pdf.

The SPHO-NJ has also created a new partnership with ReRun Thoroughbred Rescue called R.A.C.E. (Racing Alternative Careers for Equines) and the group’s main goal is to promote the versatility of racehorses that for various reasons cannot compete at the track anymore.

R.A.C.E. will host a special charity horseshow on Saturday evening, August 29, also at the Horsepark of NJ and directly following the annual ReRun charity horse show, and it is a 7 class division called The Battle of the Breeds.

This division is open for registered Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds only and all proceeds from entries will be donated to the winning breed’s organization.

The class list is as follows:

A. In -Hand
B. Walk-Trot Pleasure (any discipline)
C. Walk-Trot-Canter Pleasure (any discipline)
D. Hunter Hack (2 crossrails)
E. Command Class (all disciplines)
F. Down and back (Keg race, any discipline)
G. Ride A Buck (Bareback)

Entry fees are $10 a class or $50 for the whole division. The entry form is available at http://standardbredpleasurehorse.org/PDF/NSHS.pdf.

After the “Battle” there will be a charity BBQ style buffet dinner served in the Pavilion and all proceeds will benefit the two organizations. The price is adults — $15 and children — $10.

Pre-registering will be appreciated but tickets will also be sold the day of the event.
