2010 live racing dates announced for Michigan

Lansing, MI — Michigan’s Acting Racing Commissioner Patricia A. Lockwood announced she has signed orders authorizing the 2010 live and simulcast horse racing calendar for Michigan’s five pari-mutuel horse race tracks.

Full schedules with exception days are posted on the Office of Racing Commissioner Web site at www.michigan.gov/horseracing.

“Horse racing has been a staple in the state for more than 75 years. I encourage Michiganians and tourists alike to visit one of Michigan’s five tracks to experience the thrill of racing,” said Lockwood. “With 261 days of racing and simulcasting year round, there are plenty of opportunities for people to come out and show their support for horse racing and the thousands of people employed by this industry.”

Below are the 2010 race dates for the state’s Standardbred tracks:

Hazel Park Harness Raceway: A total of 62 harness race dates beginning Friday, April 30, 2010, through Saturday, September 18, 2010. Racing shall be conducted every Monday, Friday, and Saturday.

Northville Downs: A total of 32 harness race dates beginning Friday, February 12, 2010, through Saturday, April 24, 2010. Racing shall be conducted every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Additionally, a total of 27 harness race dates beginning Thursday, September 23, 2010, through Saturday, November 20, 2010. Racing shall be conducted every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Sports Creek Raceway: A total of 18 harness race dates for the winter meet beginning Friday, January 1, 2010, through Sunday, February 7, 2010. Racing shall be conducted every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Also, a total of 15 harness race dates for the fall meet beginning Friday, November 26, 2010, through Friday, December 31, 2010. Racing shall be conducted every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. There shall be racing on Monday, December 27, 2010. No racing will be conducted on Friday, December 24, 2010, or Saturday, December 25, 2010.
