2011 season opens at Pocono; Wednesday card cancelled

Wilkes-Barre, PA — Artsbred Camotion kicked off the 2011 harness racing season at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs with a frontrunning victory in a claiming pace on Tuesday night (March 22) at the Northeastern Pennsylvania track. The race was one of 14 held on Pocono’s opening night.

With Matt Kakaley in the bike for trainer Kent Sherman, Artsbred Camotion, the 9-5 favorite, took over the lead around the first turn and stayed strong throughout. Sand Hill made a belated run on the inside, but Artsbred Camortion held on to win in 1:55.1. Sand Hill settled for second while Tattoo Hall finished third.

Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs will be racing on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights in the 2011 season, which concludes on Saturday, November 12. Regular post time on racing nights is 6:30 p.m. (EDT).

Wednesday card cancelled

Due to the sudden, fast moving snowfall that blanketed the Northeast, races have been cancelled for Wednesday, March 23, at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.
