$5,000 guaranteed Pick-5 to kick-off Tuesday racing at Pompano

by Gabe Prewitt, for Pompano Park

Pompano Beach, FL — Despite a very formful Pick-5 sequence on Monday (Dec. 1) at Pompano Park, the wager eluded the betting public, creating a $1,592 carryover into the inaugural Tuesday evening program of the season. Track officials have added an instant guarantee of $5,000 to the Tuesday night pool.

Three live tickets were out heading into the fifth and final leg on Monday night, but the 3-2 favorite Always N The Money (Peter Wrenn) was left uncovered and emerged victorious.

The 50 cent Pick-5 is a nightly wager conducted on races two–six.

The 20 cent Jackpot Super Hi Five debuted last week at Pompano Park, a nightly wager featured on the final race of each card. The Jackpot Super Hi Five begins with a $2,073 carryover on Tuesday evening.

Beginning on Monday (Dec. 8), the Pick-4 pool will feature a $5,000 guarantee on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. The Pick-4 has a 50 cent minimum and is featured nightly on races five–eight.

Live racing has moved to a four night per week schedule, with a first post of 7:30 p.m. every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday evening. Sunday evening racing begins Dec. 14.

Stall space still available, Late Closers on horizon

Any horsemen interested in spending the winter racing in South Florida still have an opportunity to do so, as a limited number of stalls have become available on the Pompano Park backstretch. All inquiries should be directed to Joe Frasure in the race office at 954.633.6476.

Nomination forms for late closing events are also available in the race office. Late closing events will begin in January for conditioned/claiming pacers and trotters ranging from $4,000 to $25,000. The events will include two legs and a final, with bonuses for horses sweeping all three events. Nominations close on Jan. 2.
