Verruso wins ADHC Series contest

Freehold, NJ — Not to sound like a broken record but another amateur race started Saturday (March 7) at Freehold Raceway with a speed duel.

The combatants were Tough Get Going (Joe Faraldo) and Fear (Bob Davis). Faraldo found himself on the lead where his speedster likes to be and Davis was left hung on the outside for the entire mile. As the race progressed there were a few breakers but the overwhelming favorite, Drazzmatazz (Tony Verruso) was sitting in the pocket and hoping the leader could carry him into the stretch before the closers came calling.

That is exactly what happened and the favorite ended up an easy winner by more than four lengths. Verruso was asked about his trip after the race and stated, “I got a perfect trip and when he got daylight, he knew what to do.”

The mile was timed in 2:00.3.

The 7-year-old gelding is by RC Royalty and is owned by Danbry Racing Inc. of N.J. He is trained by Thomas Angerame.

The AHDC will continue its trot racing at Freehold next Saturday. The first post is scheduled for 12:35 p.m.
