Hell Patrol rules for Team Melander; Napolitano wins six

Chester, PA — Hell Patrol took a new mark of 1:54 in the $12,800 featured trot on Friday (Aug. 7) at Harrah’s Philadelphia.

Mattias Melander landed the sophomore Yankee Glide colt second-over behind the parked Trixar before mounting a sweeping three-wide move into the far turn. Despite the wide journey, Hell Patrol had more than enough to catch pacesetter Rock Party by 1-3/4 lengths; Arclight Hanover held third from a pocket trip, and the game Trixar lasted for fourth.

Mattias Melander’s brother Marcus conditions the improving Hell Patrol for Courant Inc.

The fastest mile of the card came in the first race, when the American Ideal gelding JK Musicman withstood a persistent Anythingforlove A by a neck in 1:50.3. George Napolitano Jr. guided the winner for owner-trainer Gilbert Garcia-Owen.

Napolitano won six times on the day to vault past Tim Tetrick, 59-54, in the local driver standings; Garcia-Owen harnessed four winners and now is second at Harrah’s Philadelphia behind Ron Burke, 27-23.
