OHHA honored at STA annual meeting

Laurelville, OH — The Standardbred Transition Alliance board of directors unanimously passed a resolution saluting and thanking the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association for its foundational support at its third annual meeting, held virtually, on Saturday (Feb. 6).

“Ohio horsemen have repeatedly made generous financial grants that have funded the work of the STA during its most critical formative years,” said STA President David Reid, referring to over $300,000 in contributions made by the OHHA since its inception. “This support has been vital to our organization and our efforts to provide meaningful services to transitioning Standardbreds.”

Reid recognized past OHHA president and founding STA board member Kevin Greenfield, along with current board member and OHHA Executive Director Renée Mancino, for their belief in the STA’s mission and the time and energy they have devoted to committee work.

In its first complete accreditation, inspection and grant award cycle, the STA issued grant monies to three accredited aftercare organizations that provided transitional services to over 100 Standardbreds.

Reid also expressed his gratitude to the entire board, particularly the accreditation committee, thanking them for their thorough and diligent work throughout the year.

All officers were re-elected to another one-year term: David Reid (Preferred Equine), President; Moira Fanning (Hambletonian Society), Vice President; Mitchel Skolnick (Bluestone Farms), Treasurer; and Elizabeth Caldwell (Cane Run Farm), Secretary.

The directors are comprised of Dr. Donna Franchetti, Kevin Greenfield, Dr. Patricia Hogan, Dr. Bridgette Jablonsky, Don Marean, Renée Mancino, Rick Moore, Russell Williams and M. Kelly Young.
