Longshots shine at Rosecroft

Ft. Washington, MD — The prices were right on Wednesday night (April 28) at Rosecroft Raceway, extending the Pick-5 carryover to $6,100 as longshots shined all over the card.

Ironically, the longest shot of the night, Carlos Mittanna ($104) was covered in the sequence as he won at 51-1 for driver Trae Porter who had a double on the night. The 19-year-old also won with Maizee Blue ($10).

The horse that caused the carryover was Winkys Credit ($34.60). Driver Declan Donoway snapped a 1-77 slump in fine fashion as he brought the daughter of Charlie De Vie up first over and wore down heavy favorite Explosive Drama, winning in a lifetime best 1:56.3.

Donoway also had a 6-1 winner, Gorgeous Road, giving her a perfect pocket trip to victory.

Jason Thompson and Eric Davis also had driving doubles on the night. Davis won twice for trainer Jeff Clark. Megan Roberts also had a training double.

Rosecroft will race Saturday night, with a first race post of 7:15 p.m.
