Schaefer wins STAC event at Tioga Downs

Nichols, NY — After a major downpour about an hour before post, the first race featured six amateur drivers and trotters going to post Friday night (July 9).

When the gate sprung, a few left for the lead and position and as the first quarter approached, last week’s winner Railee Workable took the lead but under a new pilot this week, Jeffrey Schaefer.

He carved out sensible fractions for the entire mile and never had any challengers to rebuff en route to a 3-1/2 length victory.  Lodi Bank Robber(Stacey Mclenaghan) rode the rail and ended up holding second over a hard-charging Jennifer(Joseph Skowyra) who rounded out the trifecta.  The 9-year-old gelding out of the mare Railee Super and is sired by Basil.  He is owned by Gratitude First LLC out of PA and trained by Renaldo Morales III.

The STAC amateurs will be back next Friday night at Tioga Downs with the first post scheduled to go at 6:15 p.m.
