Yonkers, NY — Favorites went zero-for-five during Friday night’s (Sept. 3) Pick-5 sequence at Yonkers Raceway, capped off by an 18-1 upset by Magic Vacation in the last leg. As a result, there were no winning tickets, and there will be a $2,596.64 carryover and a $10,000 guaranteed pool in the wager on Monday night’s (Sept. 6) program.

The guarantee in the Pick-5 is being offered as part of the United States Trotting Association’s Strategic Wagering Program. Free past performances for the Pick-5, courtesy of TrackMaster, will be available here. The Pick-5, which begins in race five, has a takeout rate of 20 percent.

Friday night’s featured race was the $45,000 Open Handicap Trot, and Guardian Angel AS (Matt Kakaley) worked out a pocket trip behind 2-5 choice It’s Academic (George Brennan) through fractions of :27.2, :56.3, and 1:25.1. In the lane Kakaley brought Guardian Angel AS to the outside, and he was able to forge his way by the pacesetter on his way to winning by three-quarters of a length in 1:54.2. It’s Academic held second over Mississippi Storm (Jordan Stratton).
