Vernon, NY — Star Track Hanover (Steeven Genois) grabs the featured $7,000 Open 1 Pace at Vernon Downs on Saturday (Oct. 2).

Star Track Hanover ($17.40) went straight to the front and led to the first quarter in :28.1.  He used a :29.1 second quarter to hit the half in :57.2.  Spoiler Alert (Truman Gale) was the first to make a move going first-over around the final turn.  Star Track Hanover led to three-quarters in 1:26.1.

As they made the turn for home Credit List (Justin Huckabone) made his move going three-wide down the stretch.  Star Track Hanover dug in as Credit List came flying at him.  Star Track Hanover held firm and won in 1:54.4.  Credit List had to settle for second.  Double Dealing (Jimmy Whittemore) finished third.

Star Track Hanover is a 5-year-old gelding by Chapter Seven.  He is owned and trained by Susanne Lopez.  He won his fourth in a row and fifth of the season.  He now has nine career victories.

Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Friday (October 8).  Post time is 6:10 p.m.

Leon Bailey leads all drivers with 111 wins.  Justin Huckabone is second on the list with 69 victories. Jimmy Whittemore is third with 44 trips to the winner’s circle.   Chris Long (38) is fourth.  Frank Affrunti and John MacDonald are tied for fifth with 21 wins.

Jeff Sorenson leads all trainers with 31 wins.  Jessica Okusko has 25 victories for second best.  Justin Huckabone is third with 24 wins.  Kerin Warner (22) and George Ducharme (20) round out the top five.
