Nandi Veterinary/Horse Farm to be auctioned Saturday

New Freedom, PA — Nandi Veterinary and Horse Farm, owned and operated by the late Dr. John Hurtgen, whom Hall of Famer Alan Leavitt recently referred to as the “Godfather of embryo transfers,” will be auctioned off at noon this Saturday (Dec. 4) by Paul Z. Martin Auctioneers of New Holland, Pa., for the Nandi Farm/Linda Hurtgen corporate entity.

The farm is located at 3244 West Sieling Road in New Freedom, Pa., putting it equidistant from Baltimore, York, and Harrisburg, and is easily accessible via the Shrewsbury Exit off of Interstate 83. It will be sold in its entirety as one property.

The property sits on 172 acres, with its main sections a veterinary center, a total of six horse barns, and nearby paddocks. The veterinary center has a laboratory, offices, bath, and a 36×30’ basement, and a second-floor apartment with two bedrooms, full bath and kitchen, additional rooms, and a separate inside entrance.

The vet center has a 36×100’ pole barn attached to it, with a round pen directly accessible from the veterinary clinic and the pole barn. This barn has 16-plus foaling and stud stalls, a feed room and wash room, and a breeding area in the center, with an attached 30×30’ storage building attached. Two other barns have 11 stalls each and additional paddocks, plus storage areas and run-in sheds along with stall lights with timers. Some of the paddocks are next to tillable fields.

There is also a 19-stall barn that contains an 80×100’ area for an EquiCiser. The current EquiCiser at the farm will be sold separately after the real estate.

Further information can be obtained from the auctioneers at 717.354.6671, martinauctioneers@frontiernet.net, martinauctioneers.com. The attorney is Mac Brillhart of the Stock & Leader firm in York, Pa., 717.846.9800.

“This is an ideal turn-key farm as a Vet Center, Boarding Farm, and Family Farm, a place where you can raise your own crops. The owner is out-of-state and very motivated to sell, so come prepared to buy! Do not miss this one!”
