Scioto Downs grandstand demolition to start

Columbus, OH — Demolition of the historic Scioto Downs grandstand is scheduled to get underway this week. Pre-demolition work has been on-going since the close of the 2021 racing season including asbestos remediation, electrical relocation and other utility preparation.

The new grandstand includes 768 stadium seats on the main level, an additional 280 seats on the terrace and apron and two VIP suites on the top level to accommodate up to 130 guests. Scioto Downs photo.

Once demolition concludes, construction of a new 30,000 square foot grandstand will commence. The clubhouse, which seats 550 guests, and patio will be open for the 2022 season.

The 90-day 2022 live racing season at Eldorado Scioto Downs will start on Thursday (May 12). Post time for each day will be at 3:15 p.m. due to the continued construction of the grandstand and the need to complete the race card before dark.
