David Reid to receive USTA President’s Award

Columbus, OH — U.S. Trotting Association President Russell Williams announced Monday (March 7) that David Reid has been named the recipient of the annual USTA President’s Award.

Williams will make the presentation at the USTA Board of Director’s Recognition Luncheon during their annual meeting at the Sheraton at Capitol Square in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday (March 12).

“In addition to his many responsibilities with his sales and marketing company, David has taken the lead role as president of the Standardbred Transition Alliance,” said Williams. “This award is to demonstrate our appreciation for his overall commitment to aftercare and tireless efforts toward promoting the sport of harness racing in a positive and responsible manner.”

The Standardbred Transition Alliance (STA) is a non-profit organization with federal 501(c)(3) status whose mission is to accredit, inspect and award grants to approved organizations that acquire, rehabilitate, train and re-home Standardbreds.

“I am honored to receive recognition from Russell Williams and the USTA,” said Reid. “The Standardbred Transition Alliance continues to make strides in the accreditation of aftercare facilities since inception. Industry wide cooperation is needed to continue our efforts in providing aftercare for our horses. I am fortunate to have an outstanding board working on this important issue and share this award with all of them.”

Reid was elected president of the STA on Nov. 27, 2018.

In addition to his role as STA president, Reid is also president of Preferred Equine Marketing Standardbreds and Thoroughbreds, president of Preferred Equine Online, LLC, sales manager at Tattersalls, co-sales manager at Lexington Selected Yearling Sales Company, Hambletonian Society director, trustee of The Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame, and syndicate manager for Walner.
